Overdose at Depot Bay

We are at Depot Bay on the Oregon coast. The area is beautiful; we are relaxing and having a great time. The Obesity Demon is hard to fight, in fact, instead of leaving it behind it tagged along and brought a lot of its friends. What do you do when you sit around watching the television? You eat! Why do we come to the coast to relax and eat, when we can do that at home?

We have done a couple of other things. We went to the show twice and that was okay. What do you do when you go to the show? You eat!

We have looked around at some tourist shops including a candy store where we went out of our way to overdose on chocolate and saltwater taffy. Actually we bought 1 piece of toffee and about 25 pieces of taffy.

We went to the supermarket to purchase our food for the week and bought a pumpkin pie and a German chocolate pie, which we already finished, saving the pumpkin pie for tomorrow. Also bought bacon that turned out to be side pork. While none of us knew the difference, we did not like it and threw it out. Just as well though as it was stuffed full of OD’s. Most of our other shopping was okay, fruit, vegetables and meat. Did go a little heavy on the breads.

Here it is the day before Thanksgiving and while it is damp and foggy at home it is warm and beautiful at the coast. We set here in our condo and look out upon the vast sea. The water is so clean that you can see deep into it. Right outside our window we see what appears to be thousands of sea otters. Checking this out a little further it turned out to be kelp with some seals swimming around in it. I had been trying to decide for 2 days if they were sea otters or seals. When the waves break you appear to see the entire body and they look pretty big. Perhaps they are sea lions but I don’t see any of them on the rocks, oh well maybe its kelp!

A little further out we see an occasional whale swim by. Once in a while you will see a big tail come out of the water as it dives deeper into the sea. At other times all you see is a spout of water.

It is unusual for me to go away on a vacation where I am not working. This is one of those few times that I will not be able to write it off my taxes, “oh well”!

Our daughter is in the kitchen and just said we should have purchased a sponge while we were out “oh well”! She is doing the dishes and getting ready to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. We bought enough food for 10 and there are just the 3 of us.

Lynda is in the living room eating pie and Fritos and drinking a diet soft drink. She keeps saying that she has to get her blood sugar down as she is having cataract surgery in a couple of weeks.

I am sitting at the computer but nothing worthwhile seems to be coming out. I guess I will walk down to the clubhouse and see what is going on.
