It’s a known fact that children learn by example. They watch our every move, develop similar habits and grow up thinking that they are supposed to mimic our lifestyle. After all, if we’re doing it, it must be right. With millions of children being diagnosed with obesity each year, it has become our duty to make sure that they are put on a healthy path and develop the knowledge to fight such a serious illness.
First and foremost, make exercise a part of everyday life. Take a walk, play at the park or come up with a family activity. While watching TV every now and then is fine, it is strongly suggested that you try to add exercise whenever you can.
Moreover, cut out the junk food. If you’re on the go, there are still great alternatives. Kids love finger food – how about carrot sticks and veggie dip, whole wheat crackers with natural peanut butter or string cheese? Anything that tastes good and is fun to play with will excite your children. If you can handle this change, taking it to the next level is still a possibility. Try whole wheat pasta with organic tomato sauce, pizza on wheat dough for dinner- you can easily modify fatty dinners and turn them into nutritious treats. Believe us, you won’t be hearing any complaints.
In addition, make sure that your child gets enough sleep. Though it depends on the age, most youngsters require nine to ten hours a night. This is absolutely crucial, as it promotes overall well being. Not to mention, it will decrease those unbearable tantrums. We all know how difficult it is to handle a cranky child.
Every child deserves a chance to live a healthy life. When one is active and eats right, chances are likely that they feel good and are happier. Involve your entire family – make it a team effort so that everyone can be healthy and fit. Even slightly altering your routine will ultimately make a huge difference.
