Developing a Positive Self Image With Weight Loss
We live in a world where being overweight is criticized by the entertainment industry, media and even by our friends. While the majority of Americans are overweight we still seem to treat those that are fatter than us as second-class citizens or do we? Most of us have experienced hitting bottom as our issues with obesity have crashed down around us. So often we feel all alone as we fight that very vicious Obesity Monster. It is natural that we question if weight loss can really help us to develop a positive self image.
As difficult as it is we must first stop worrying about what others may or may not think. The more we fret the more we are seduced by the very food and bad habits causing our problem. While it may seem like the world is against us we must face this head on take control and make some changes.
I can tell you that indeed weight loss can help our personal self image. Believe me I understand how difficult it can be to bend over and tie your shoes. Clipping toenails can make you feel like a contortionist. Pulling your belt tight enough to hold up your pants seems impossible and without suspenders you would be spending most of your day mooning others. Actually there are times that I wish I had the guts to moon some of these idiots that couldn’t gain a pound if they tried and love to tell the rest of us what we are doing wrong.
Have you ever felt as if you have turned into a beach ball with little arms and legs and a head with no neck? Before my weight loss surgery I was there and each day I am pleased to learn that I actually do have a neck. For all of us a loss of weight seems to make us look taller and our arms and legs longer. As many of you know I also operate a sexual advice site Ask Uncle Terry. One of the things that men seem to worry about is the size of another body part. Will I have some good news - men - a loss of weight makes that part appear longer too!
Yes, a loss of weight not only enables us to tie our shoes it also helps us improve our self image. We seem to like our self better and we loose our fright of the mirror. We proudly go out into public and stop worrying about others talking behind our back. We get rid of those suspenders and if we feel like mooning someone we can easily undo our belt and let the sunshine glow.
Here it is the start of the holiday season and you may wonder if it is too late to develop a good self-image? Will it be any easier waiting until the first of the year when you are 5, 10 or 25 pounds heavier? Common sense tells us that we need to get started now. By eating sensibly through the holiday season we will stem the weight gain and may even loose a few pounds. Can you think of a better gift than good health and a longer life? I know that I want to be around many more years and I bet you do too! Good luck to each and every one of you as we enter into this holiday season. I know it is not easy but continue with your plans to loose weight and you will be pleased that you did.
