My name is Terry Lile Weinheimer and I am a 67-year-old widower. I am neither a dietitian nor medical professional. I graduated from college with a degree in business. While I tend to make a lot of grammatical errors I enjoy writing. You are welcome to correct me when you find them, in fact you are invited to make your own or demonstrate your perfection by sharing with us on the blog.

Many people have asked why I refer to morbid obesity as terminal obesity. The truth is that I don’t. The experts tell us that obesity is the second leading cause of preventable death after smoking! Morbid obesity like many other diseases can lead to and make other diseases more difficult to treat. Like it or not obesity has a high association with terminal illnesses.

My entire life I have been up and down in weight and down is certainly better. The image in this post was taken at Ripley’s Believe It or Not in Newport, Oregon. Ripley’s is as near as I want to get to a cemetery any time soon.

Terminal Obesity started as a project to help me work through my own frustrations with weight loss and weight gain. Terminal Obesity in many ways is a chronicle of my personal weight loss struggles, goals and aspirations. Within it I speak of the past, present and future.

On July 16, 2008 I had laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric by surgery. The surgery has been an initial success and I am confident that as the months and years go by it shall continue to be.

At TerminalObesity.com my life has become an open book. As posts are made to this blog I will share my own experiences with you and you are invited to share yours. My interests are broad with weight loss and weight control being just a couple of them. I am a consultant in the floor covering industry. I am a novice blogger, additionally I write adult sexuality, relationship and parenting articles and an advice column under the pen name Terrance Lile. As diverse as these professional interests are they have been interesting and rewarding.

Within these pages you will find my rambling and perhaps some helpful information. Some of what you read has been written over the past several years. In some of these writings I mention my wife who passed away from complications to diabetes in April of 2002.
